Jeff Heaton, BSc

Operations Supervisor and Lead Submersible Pilot, Nuytco Research Limited

Jeff will be supervising all submersible activity on the Finding Coral Expedition. His past projects with Nuytco include a five-year contract with National Geographic and NOAA to provide training, technical support, and pilotage of Deep Worker 2000 submersibles in the study of five U.S. National Marine Sanctuaries.

In 1999 a contract with NASA led to the use of Deep Worker 2000 submersibles in the recovery of solid rocket boosters. Jeff's work can be seen in many documentary films including the BBC production Quest for the Giant Squid in Kiakoura Canyon, New Zealand.

As Nuytco's head submersible pilot, Jeff has also worked at the U.S. Navy Acoustic Testing Range, Back Island, Alaska; in Palau for the Coral Reef Research Foundation collecting coral for cancer research, and most recently locating and assessing the 11 pieces of heavy logging equipment sunk at a depth of 1,200 feet in the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. He recently performed a record-breaking 18 km pipeline survey in Namae-Ri South Korea at 3,395 feet.
